Oxford Mosque Society Mosque was founded in 1960's by a group of dedicated community members who saw a need for a place of worship and community gathering and was one of the first mosques in Oxford. Since then, the Mosque has grown and expanded to become a hub for Islamic education and outreach in the community.
Oxford Mosque Society Mosque hosts a variety of events and services throughout the year, including Iftar Party during the Holy month of Ramadan, lectures by guest speakers, and community gatherings.
Yes. The Holy Quran does not prohibit anyone from visiting a mosque (provided they are not there to cause trouble) as it is a House of God that can and should be used for the worship of God by all. Only idolatry is prohibited in a mosque but even then all are welcome to visit a mosque. There is a Modest Dress code to enter the mosque.
Men and women should both dress modestly, in looser-fitting clothing that covers the arms and legs—no shorts or sleeveless shirts for either gender. Women should also bring a scarf. Not all mosques will ask female visitors to cover their heads, but it's a sign of respect to have one ready.
